Historical Sites

As the city is steeped in so much history—it’s the adopted hometown of George Washington, by the way—you’ll get a chance to see famous historic landmarks just by taking a stroll. In the historic center of Old Town, for example, you’ll find the Gadsby’s Tavern, which was frequented by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. You can go on the free tours offered at the 19th-century Ivy Hill Cemetery if you want a hair-raising experience as well.
